Dr. Sohel Anwar is a tenured Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University, Indianapolis, and the founding director of the Mechatronics and Autonomous Systems Research Lab (MARL). He brings more than 30 years of combined academic and industry research experience in mechatronics, automation, controls, and intelligent medical devices.
Dr. Anwar’s research spans smart medical device development, sensor fusion, autonomous systems, and advanced control architectures. His work has led to the co-founding of Health Smart Technologies, Inc. and the development of Quantifiable Soft Tissue Manipulation QSTM® technology through NIH-supported translational research.
An accomplished inventor and scholar, Dr. Anwar has authored over 180 peer-reviewed publications and is an inventor or co-inventor on 15 U.S. patents. He has supervised more than 60 graduate researchers and has secured research funding from the NSF, NIH, Department of Defense, Department of Energy, and numerous industries.
